Materials Recycling Facility (MURF)

Doyle Bros is committed to delivering our services in an environmentally sustainable manner. In line with that commitment, our focus is now strongly on resource recovery rather than landfill.

We opened our Materials Recycling Facility (MURF) at Silverwater in March 2009. The MURF receives loads of MIXED Waste & Recyclable Collections, successfully processing, recovering and recycling over 75% of all material received - this would all have previously ended up in landfill!

The mixed waste and recyclable material passes through a series of mechanical screens and separators and then a team of our staff separate out particular recoverable materials. The result is the recovery of the following resources that are onsold to be recycled;
• Paper and cardboard

• Plastic bags/film and hard plastics
• Containers (plastic, glass, aluminium and steel cans)
• E waste (computer and printers etc.)
• Metals

It should be noted that prior to the opening of our facility in March 2009, this material would all have been destined to end up in landfill.
